The military pauses declared by Israel in Gaza to facilitate the influx of aid have not had the desired effect so far, according to the World Health Organisation, WHO.

Last weekend, the Israeli military announced a daily humanitarian "pause" in the fighting along a key road in eastern Rafah to facilitate the delivery of supplies to the Gaza Strip.

Something that has not yet led to more aid reaching those in need, according to the UN agency WHO.

Overall, we in the UN can say that we have not seen any impact on humanitarian deliveries coming in since the, as I see it, unilateral announcement of this technical pause, says Richard Peeperkorn, the UN agency's representative in the Palestinian territories, on Friday.

More than eight months of war, triggered by the terrorist-designated Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October, has led to severe humanitarian conditions in the Palestinian territory, with multiple warnings of famine and outright starvation.
