Lotte Kopecky took her second consecutive World Championship victory in the road race when she sprinted to victory in Zurich and screamed out her joy at the finish line.

But in her thoughts, she had the 18-year-old Swiss junior cyclist Muriel Furrer, who died from her injuries after the fall in the junior race the other day.

I want to offer my condolences to her family. It must be a tough time for them, and there were many who cried during the minute of silence today, says Kopecky in the victory interview on SVT.

When asked if her victory was also a victory for Furrer, Kopecky responds:

Yes, this one is for her.

The road race was held in rain and cold around Zurich.

I was freezing, but tried to keep a cool head and use my energy at the right moment, says Kopecky, who had the most strength left in the sprint and won ahead of American Chloe Dygert and Italian Elisa Londo Borghini.
