Fredrik Lindgren secured the World Championship bronze in speedway on Saturday.

The Swede was in third place before the final round in Polish Toruń, but had neither secured a medal nor given up hope of a silver. The 39-year-old also drove well during the final round and advanced to the semifinal.

Already there, at least a bronze was secured, as the fourth-placed Slovak Martin Vaculík missed the top eight and the semifinal. Nor did the total second, Briton Robert Lambert, advance, and thus Lindgren had the silver in his own hands. To pass the Briton, either a win or a second place in the round was required.

And the Swede impressed at least in his semifinal, where he flew forward and was superior.

In the final, Lindgren was last, and had to "settle" for another World Championship bronze instead. He already has three World Championship medals from before. A World Championship silver from last year and two bronzes from 2018 and 2020.

The winner was Polish Bartosz Zmarzlik.
