The main person behind an earlier version of the drug sales website Flugsvamp has been arrested in Istanbul, reports Expressen with reference to the Turkish Hürriyet.

The Turkish newspaper publishes a picture where a handcuffed blond man is seen being led away by masked police officers.

The man, who is in his 30s, was acquitted in the district court. In the court of appeal, he was sentenced in 2022 to 11 years and 8 months in prison for, among other things, aggravated drug offenses, but had then left the country and has been internationally wanted since then.

He was also sentenced to repay criminal profits in the form of nearly 1,500 bitcoin, equivalent to over one billion kronor with today's exchange rate.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in a comment to TT that they are not aware of the case.

"Detentions abroad do not necessarily become cases for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, a state shall inform our embassy/consulate if a Swedish citizen is detained, provided that the detained person themselves wants it," they write.

The darknet site Flugsvamp has been described as "Blocket for drugs" and has repeatedly been shut down only to resurface in new versions. The now arrested man administered Flugsvamp 2.0 and thereby enabled over 300,000 drug deals according to the police and prosecutors.

As recently as a week ago, the sentence of 11 years and 10 months was established for a 41-year-old man who administered the subsequent version, Flugsvamp 3.0.
