Net in the Riksdag: "Absurd that it should be necessary"

The Riksdag has set up a net in the chamber to prevent the audience from throwing objects at members of parliament.

I think it's good that they're doing something. It's very absurd that it's necessary, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).

He thinks it's a necessary signal that the Riksdag takes seriously that there are people trying to disrupt meetings in the Riksdag.

Kristersson demanded security measures after pro-Palestinian activists in the stands recently threw a bag of tomatoes at Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) during a debate.

Is the net sufficient?

It at least limits tomato-throwing, then we'll see if it's enough, says Ulf Kristersson.
