One Day Before the Decisive Meeting – Three Million are Missing

The Norwegian handball club Kristiansand Vipers – with three Swedes on the team – are fighting feverishly for their survival. A little over a day before a fateful meeting is to be held, three million Norwegian kronor – out of a total of 25 – are lacking to avoid bankruptcy.

Today and tomorrow, we have to find around three million kronor to be completely safe, says board member Peter Gitmark to VG on Saturday morning.

An unknown savior in distress must step forward. This is because Gitmark states that the last millions will probably have to come from an actor that the club is not currently negotiating with.

The club features Swedish national team stars Jamina Roberts, Carin Strömberg, and Nina Koppang.

The Norwegian top club won the Champions League three years in a row (2021-2023) and the Norwegian league seven years in a row, but has been in economic crisis for a longer period.

Already last winter, money had to be raised to save the club. Then, the players took the initiative to call sponsors and other companies to ask for financial contributions.

The first call was the most embarrassing moment of my life, said Jamina Roberts to NRK.

Now the crisis is worse. The club needs to bring in 25 million kronor to secure continued operations. On Sunday, it will be decided at a new board meeting whether Vipers will make it or have to be declared bankrupt.
