Many holiday weekdays between Christmas and New Year

This year, the Christmas and New Year's holidays are particularly good, requiring only 5 vacation days to get 15 consecutive days off (including weekends).

What impacts vacation plans?

Furthermore, Visit Sweden's survey shows that 50% are affected by inflation and are still traveling, but choosing cheaper trips and spending less on restaurants. One-third of Swedes responded that the economic situation is not an obstacle to their vacation plans.

The trend is that Swedes are waiting longer to book their vacation and one explanation is that they want to see how the economy and global situation develop before making a decision.

What is impacting choice of vacation destination?

This is what Swedes consider most important when choosing a vacation destination:

  • Easy to get to, by car, train, plane, etc. (40%).

  • I've been there before and really liked it (30%).
