Two detained after the murder of C Gambino

Two young men are being detained for aiding and abetting the murder of rap artist C Gambino, who was shot dead in a garage last week in Gothenburg. I claim that this act has been preceded by planning and it is in this part that I claim they have been involved, says prosecutor Shahrzad Rahimi.

Two young men are remanded in custody for aiding and abetting the murder of rapper C Gambino, who was shot dead in a garage last week in Gothenburg.

It was on Tuesday evening that the 26-year-old Gothenburg rapper C Gambino was shot to death in a parking garage on Hisingen in Gothenburg.

The two men were arrested at the end of the week and are now remanded in custody on probable cause for aiding and abetting murder. The crime period is set from 23 May to 4 June. Both men deny the crime.

The identities of the suspects are confidential for the sake of their and their relatives' safety, something that has become increasingly common in cases involving gang-related murder.

Lawyer Ulrik Smedberg is defending one of the men, who, according to him, is under 21 years old. He refuses to comment on the connection between his client and the victim, or to the other suspect. He states that his client has previously been convicted of a crime, but not related to gang criminality.

The district court also approved the restrictions requested by prosecutor Shahrzad Rahimi in her remand application. This means, among other things, that the suspects are not allowed to receive visitors, follow media reporting, or have electronic communication.

Since the investigation is surrounded by secrecy, he listened to the court's decision in another room, together with his client, instead of in the courtroom.

Prosecutor Shahrzad Rahimi says the investigation is ongoing with full force.

It is suspected that the murder is linked to gang criminality.

Most of the investigation is classified, but the police revealed more about how the artist was killed the day after the murder.

The anonymous C Gambino, who performed with a face mask, released his debut album in 2022 and has been high on the Swedish charts. Last month, he received the award for Hip-Hop of the Year at the Grammis Awards. According to the police, he had ties to organised crime.
