Thrown bangers and other pyrotechnics led to the Stockholm derby in football between Hammarby and Djurgården being interrupted with a quarter of the match remaining and is to be completed today.

This is condemned by Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer.

Everyone agrees that it is not acceptable to throw in different types of pyrotechnics. I perceive that there is a very large consensus among various actors in football on this, he says to SVT.

Strömmer also says that there may be changes to the penalties for violent offenders in sports stands.

It is individual individuals who do this. It has consequences when a few decide to use bangers and other pyrotechnics, he says to SVT.

We are now reviewing the penalties for those who use it. And for those who violate access agreements and those who storm the pitch.

The government has appointed an inquiry to reduce violence in the stands. It is expected to be completed in March next year.
