William Nylander delivered two goals and an assist when his Toronto defeated Tampa Bay 5–2 on Tuesday night.
The Swede showed the way from the start and scored the match's first goal just four minutes in. In the second, he assisted teammate Auston Matthews to 2–1 before scoring his team's third goal himself.
For Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman, who became captain before the season started, it was a more disappointing experience. However, the 33-year-old from Örnsköldsvik can take comfort in having set up both of his team's goals.
Toronto's win was their fourth in the last four matches. For Nylander, the night's points haul means he has so far scored five goals and two assists. Last season, the star forward scored a total of 98 points in the regular season, his best career performance to date.
