Two men are convicted of offenses against the Public Order Act after running onto the cross-country skiing tracks in the middle of Vasaloppet at the beginning of March this year, reports P4 Dalarna. The penalty will be daily fines totaling 2,000 kronor each.

The men in their 50s jumped onto the tracks when the winner of the men's race, Norwegian Torleif Syrstad, was only a few hundred meters from the finish. The men were quickly removed by staff before Syrstad passed.

The defendants claim they acted out of necessity or self-defense with reference to the climate. An explanation that the district court did not accept, according to P4 Dalarna.
