Show jumping star Henrik von Eckermann chooses to opt out of the initial World Cup competitions during the season. As the title defender, he is already qualified for the final in Switzerland at the beginning of April and therefore does not need to chase any points to get there.
The World Cup final is what I'm going to do, and of course, I want to win it again, says von Eckermann to SVT.
The plan is to make the season premiere in the fifth World Cup competition in Stuttgart, Germany, in mid-November. Before that, the idea is to participate in some outdoor competitions in Mexico on grass.
I will do some World Cup competitions, but I also have some younger horses, some newer horses that I need to educate and bring into the sport. Then maybe other competitions, rather than just World Cup competitions, will fit better so that I can build further, says the Swedish world number one.
