The IFK Göteborg flag was at half-mast after the death notice.

Already in the spring, the club's former coach Sven-Göran Eriksson was hailed when he received standing ovations from a packed Gamla Ullevi in connection with the match between IFK Göteborg and IFK Norrköping.

It was also the last time club director Håkan Mild met "Svennis".

It was goosebumps in so many different ways. Oh, how loved he was. It was fantastic to see, says Håkan Mild to TT.

It's very sad and sorrowful. At the same time, I'm glad that "Svennis" got so much love at the end of his life. It's not everyone who gets that opportunity, he continues.

Degerfors plays with mourning band

How the club will honor the former coach this time has not yet been decided.

Definitely, it will be something. But what, I don't know right now, says Mild.

According to Svensk Elitfotboll, a minute of silence will be held at all arenas in Allsvenskan and Superettan on Monday and Tuesday. All clubs are also free to choose whether they want to play with mourning bands.

"We encourage all within Swedish football (lower divisions) to do the same, but no absolute requirement", writes Svenska Fotbollförbundet's press chief Petra Thorén in a comment.

She also flags that the association will pay attention to "Svennis" in other ways.

"Exactly how, we will get back to".

Silent minute

One of the clubs that will play with mourning bands is Degerfors. "Svennis" coached the Värmland club between 1977 and 1978 and took them from Division 3 to Division 2.

Due to Sven-Göran Eriksson's passing, Degerfors IF will play with mourning bands during tonight's match against Örgryte. On Saturday, a minute of silence will take place at Stora Valla before the match against Östersund begins, says Timmie Falk, press chief at Degerfors.
