Fred's proposal to defy – Israel continues its warfighting in Rafah in southern Gaza.

A Rafah resident describes constant shelling and snipers on rooftops.

On Saturday, residents report artillery fire from tanks in western Rafah. Witnesses in eastern and central Rafah describe intense artillery shelling.

According to the person, Israeli snipers are stationed on rooftops throughout the area.

About a million people – many of whom are already fleeing from other parts of Gaza – have been forced to leave Rafah over the past few weeks due to Israel's escalating offensive. On Friday, the UN Food Program (WFP) described the scenes in the city as "apocalyptic".

Israel's takeover of Rafah's border crossing with Egypt is said to have further exacerbated the already severely strained humanitarian efforts in the city. Emergency aid in the form of food and medicine is said to be arriving less frequently – at the same time as large parts of the population are said to be suffering from malnutrition.

Even in Gaza City in the northern part of the region, intense battles are said to be ongoing. On Saturday, Israel's army announces that it is withdrawing from the Jabalia area after three weeks of offensives.
