Kristoffer Olsson: "I was half dead"

One day, Kristoffer Olsson wants to write a book about what he has been through. But first and foremost, he will take himself back to the football pitch. I am completely sure that I will be better than ever, he says to SVT.

The 29-year-old had been ill for several days before he collapsed in his home on February 20. The Swedish national team midfielder was initially treated in a respirator after getting several blood clots in the brain due to an extremely rare inflammation in the brain's blood vessels.

I could barely talk. I could barely move. It was really like being half dead. Then it got better, says Olsson in an interview with SVT.

Today, he's feeling "really good", he says. He's already training football individually twice a week. He hopes to soon be able to add a couple more sessions per week and eventually return to training with his Danish team FC Midtjylland again.

It's going to take time. Whether it takes a year, half a year, a few months, or two years before I get back to where I was before, but when I finally get there, I'm completely sure I'll be better than ever. What I've been through makes me stronger, says Olsson.

He also has another dream for later in life.

Before I die, I would really like to, and also want to, write a book about this.
