For the first time in the large-scale war that Russia started in 2022, Ukraine has attacked North Ossetia in southern Russia with drones, according to local authorities in the Russian republic.

Three drones have been destroyed in the city of Mozdok, reports the governor. The target of the drones is said to have been a military airfield. According to the governor, no people were injured and the airport's function is unaffected.

Many Russian combat planes used in attacks on Ukraine take off from the airport in Mozdok, reports the news site Ukrainska Pravda.

North Ossetia is, however, far from the front lines of the war, for example, the distance to Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine is approximately 100 miles.

Last night, 25 Ukrainian drones were shot down in six regions and on the annexed Crimean Peninsula, reports Russia's Defense Ministry.

In addition, Russian forces destroyed two sea drones that were heading for the Crimean Peninsula, according to the military.

The commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleschuk, states that Ukraine's air defense shot down a Russian robot and nine drones last night.

Several Western countries have recently changed their stance on the sensitive issue of using donated weapons against Russian territory. This includes Germany and France.

The US is also said to have given its approval, and Ukraine is reported to have used American weapons against targets within Russia in recent days.

The Swedish government has no objection to Ukraine using Swedish weapons to strike targets within Russia, said Defense Minister Pål Jonson recently.

Following the turnaround, reports of Ukrainian attacks across the Russian border have increased.
