Milan has had a tough start to the Champions League season with two losses in two matches (Liverpool 1–3 and Bayer Leverkusen 0–1). Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who now works as an advisor to Milan's owner – is one of many who have received a lot of criticism at the beginning of the season.
But maybe the turnaround comes now?
Club Brugge certainly started strongly, but it was Milan who took the lead at home on San Siro. The in-form American Christian Pulisic curled a corner that found its way into the goal. Six minutes later, Brugge's Raphael Onyedika was shown the red card after a foul tackle on Tijjani Reijnders.
With ten men on the pitch, Brugge equalized in the second half after a shot from Kyriani Sabbe.
But it was Milan and Reijnders who would have the final say. With two very similar goals – crosses from the flank and well-placed finishes – Reijnders scored both 2–1 and 3–1.
With a quarter of an hour left, Milan brought in super talent Francesco Camarda. According to statistics company Opta, he thus became the youngest Italian (16 years and 226 days) to play in the Champions League. Camarda is also the youngest player to have played in Serie A after coming on as a substitute in November last year (15 years and 260 days).
And it looked like it was going to be a real fairy-tale debut.
Camarda reached highest on a cross and headed in 4–1. Or so he thought.
For the goal was subsequently disallowed for offside, and Camarda instead received a yellow card for celebrating and taking off his jersey.
