Ukraine's president says he is developing a "comprehensive plan" for how Kiev thinks the war with Russia should end.

In Ukrainian Donetsk, however, Russia claims new successes.

While no public negotiations are taking place between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is developing a "comprehensive plan" for how his country wants to see the end of the war.

Based on previous statements from the countries' presidents, the two sides seem to be further apart than ever regarding a potential peace agreement.

It is very important for us to show a plan for ending the war that will gain support from the majority of the world, says Zelensky during a press conference on Friday with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar.

Russia claims success

Russia is advancing slowly on the battlefield and claims on Friday to have taken a small village in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk in the east.

The Russian Defense Ministry reports that the country's soldiers "liberated the settlement of Rozdolivka", located about 20 kilometers north of Bachmut, which was captured by Russia last year.

Russian artillery fire has also taken the lives of at least four people and injured three in the eastern Ukrainian town of New York, according to local authorities. Among the injured is an eight-year-old girl, according to Ukrainian reports.

The artillery shells hit, among other things, the entrance to a five-story building where several of the victims were staying.

Alleged Ukrainian drone attack

Russian reports also claim that a fire broke out in a fuel depot in the Tambov region in central Russia in a Ukrainian drone attack on Friday morning.

Maksim Yegorov, the equivalent of governor in the region, writes on social media that a small fire broke out and no one was injured.

Ukraine regularly carries out attacks on mainly the nearest border regions in Russia, and often targets oil facilities of various kinds. Tambov, however, is not located on the border but deeper in the central part of European Russia.

According to unverified reports from the Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow, about 20 Ukrainian drones were stopped during the night to Friday. No specific attack on Tambov is mentioned.
