A woman in her 60s was found shot to death in Akalla, northwestern Stockholm, at around 11 pm on Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, no one has been arrested for the crime.
According to reports in several media outlets, the woman was related to a gang criminal.
It's far too early to say anything about this woman's potential connections. It's part of the investigation, says police spokesperson Anders Bryngelsson.
According to him, it's also too early to comment on whether the fatal shooting could lead to an escalated spiral of violence.
I can't speculate about that, says Anders Bryngelsson.
The police have held interviews with several people and conducted a crime scene investigation.
We're certainly looking into potential relationships and whether this incident may be connected to another event, but I can't say more than that.
It's still unclear when the shooting occurred, as the police didn't receive any alarm about gunfire.
